Kim Beachcroft Jones (1945-2023)

Kim studied Natural Sciences (Chemistry) at Fitzwilliam College from 1964 to 1967. On leaving , he joined ICI Dyestuffs but soon decided a career in science was not for him. He then decided to study accountancy, a decision he never regretted.

Once qualified, over the years he worked in industry and private practice. In 1996 he took the decision to go solo and work from home. He really enjoyed this and over time many of his clients became family/friends. Having slowly cut down the number of his clients he finally retired at Christmas 2022.

Unfortunately, at this time he was starting to suffer from backache, which turned out to be cancer and he passed away at home on 18 February 2023. I and both our sons were with him at the time.

Kim was very proud of his two sons, Simon and Christopher. Over time, he was involved in many of their activities. He came a cub pack leader; he ran junior cricket teams and spent many cold winter afternoons beside football pitches. The interest in football also lead the whole family to watching Manchester United, though in recent years we started watching Macclesfield FC.

Kim was involved in many village activities including a choir, the cancer research committee and our local sports and social club. He was, of course, treasurer of all these organisations. He also enjoyed going to Jodrell Bank for their series of scientific lectures.

In recent years, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, all of whom had a wonderful relationship with him.

Kim was a kind, considerate person who is greatly missed by his family and many friends.
